Open URL API

New in picTrove 2 pro version 2.2 is an “openURL” or launch URL actions API. With this, 3rd party apps can add launch actions to search photos in picTrove 2 pro.

All picTrove 2 pro launch actions follow the following URL format scheme:

com.traversient.pictrove://action?parameters

The following actions are available:

searchallsources

Use the searchallsources action to perform a multi-search display for all available sources with the provided query search phrase.

Required parameters:

query

Pass the search phrase that picTrove 2 pro will search in the query parameter.

Example:

com.traversient.pictrove://searchallsources?query=Emma%20Watson

searchsources

Use the searchsources action to have picTrove 2 pro search for the passed search phrase in only specified sources, instead of all available.

Required parameters:

query

Pass the search phrase that picTrove 2 pro will search in the query parameter.

sources

Pass the list of sources that you want your search query to be requested against. Separate multiple sources with just a single comma (,) and do not add any spaces. Available sources must be one or more of: (Bing,Google,Flickr,500px,Twitter)

Example:

com.traversient.pictrove://searchsources?query=Emma%20Watson&sources=Google,Bing

allonwebpage

Use the all on web page action to search a particular web page URL for all images that can be found. This functionality is only available from Google Images.

Required parameters:

webpage

Pass the URL of the webpage you want to search from Google Images in the webpage parameter.

Example:

com.traversient.pictrove://allonwebpage?webpage=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.apple.com%2Fwatch%2F

allonwebsite

Use the allonwebsite action to search an entire website to find any available images from it. This will cause picTrove 2 pro to display search results from both Google and Bing Images.

Required parameters:

website

Pass the base URL (http://www.yourdomain.com/) or just the base domain (www.yourdomain.com) to specify the website you want to search.

Example:

com.traversient.pictrove://allonwebsite?website=apple.com

searchwithinwebsite

Use the searchwithinwebsite action to have picTrove 2 pro search for images matching a particular search phrase within a website. picTrove 2 pro will display results from both Google and Bing images for this action.

Required parameters

website

Pass the base URL (http://www.yourdomain.com/) or just the base domain (www.yourdomain.com) to specify the website you want to search.

query

Pass the search phrase that picTrove 2 pro will search in the query parameter.

Example:

com.traversient.pictrove://searchwithinwebsite?website=apple.com&query=apple%20watch

Tips

  • You can browse through the page on mobile Safari and launch the example URLs above into picTrove 2 pro when you tap the links.
  • Remember to URL encode all the parameters in the launch URLs, especially when they contain spaces or other characters that are invalid in URLs.
